Ear care & hearing aid maintenance

Ear care that comes to you.

Professional cerumen removal and hearing aid maintenance — at your home, your workplace, or your facility.

Earwax buildup and neglected hearing aids are two of the most common — and most fixable — barriers to better hearing. Ear Outfitters brings licensed audiologists to you for quick, comfortable cerumen removal and thorough hearing aid clean-and-checks. No clinic visit required.

Professional Earwax Removal

Earwax is natural and usually harmless, but when it builds up, it can muffle your hearing, cause discomfort, and even make hearing aids stop working. Over-the-counter remedies often push wax deeper or irritate the ear canal. Professional removal is safer, faster, and more effective.

Our audiologists use two methods depending on what your ears need:

  • Curette removal

A gentle, manual technique using a small instrument to carefully lift wax from the canal under direct visualization. Ideal for drier or firmly impacted wax.

  • Irrigation

A controlled, low-pressure warm water rinse that flushes softer wax from the canal. Comfortable and quick for most patients.

Your audiologist will examine your ears with an otoscope before and after the procedure to determine the best approach and confirm complete removal.

Hearing Aid Maintenance & Troubleshooting

Hearing aids are an investment in your quality of life — but they need regular care to keep working their best. Moisture, earwax, and everyday wear can degrade performance over time. Many “broken” hearing aids just need a good cleaning.

Ear Outfitters provides on-site hearing aid maintenance for all major brands and styles. We don't sell or program hearing aids — we keep the ones you already own working well.

What's included in a clean-and-check:

  • Visual inspection of the device and ear canal
  • Wax guard and dome replacement
  • Tubing inspection and replacement (for BTE styles)
  • Battery door and contact check
  • Moisture removal and drying
  • Listening check to confirm output
  • Basic troubleshooting and user education

If your device needs repair or reprogramming beyond what we can address on-site, we'll let you know and help you coordinate next steps with your dispensing provider.

Recurring Hearing Care for Your Residents

Hearing loss is one of the most prevalent — and most undertreated — health conditions in senior living communities. Residents with poorly maintained hearing aids or impacted earwax are more likely to withdraw socially, experience cognitive decline, and suffer falls. But most facilities don't have the tools or training to help.

Ear Outfitters partners with assisted living facilities and nursing homes across the Austin area to provide scheduled, on-site hearing care visits. We bring everything we need — your staff and residents don't have to arrange transportation or coordinate outside appointments.

What a facility visit includes

  • Cerumen checks and removal for residents who need it
  • Hearing aid clean-and-checks for all device wearers
  • Battery and supply checks
  • Staff education on daily hearing aid care and communication strategies
  • Documentation for each resident seen

Why facilities choose Ear Outfitters

  • Licensed, doctoral-level audiologists — not techs or assistants
  • Mobile service means zero disruption to your residents’ routines
  • Proactive maintenance reduces hearing-related behavioral concerns
  • A care quality differentiator families notice when choosing a community

How it works

We schedule recurring visits — monthly or quarterly depending on your community's needs — at a flat per-visit or per-resident rate. No surprise billing, no insurance hassles.
